Ho-Hum...

It seems I have let my blogging slip to the wayside again…mostly busyness, some laziness, a little less than desire and smidge of computer modem issues have kept me at bay.

The week before last was VBS. I had a crew of 15 very fun 3rd graders. This was my third year volunteering, and although both mentally and physically exhausting, I love it! Every year it gets better! I started with 1st graders, last year with 2nd and now 3rd. I’ve already requested 4th for next year. Unfortunately we only achieved two days of VBS due to a health issue with a little girl that attended. The church thought it best to close and sanitize in lieu of continuing and risking further spread of flu germs. As of now we have rescheduled and will finish the last three days on July 6th, 7th & 8th…yea!

Anyway, even though I committed myself to the whole week, we had Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off. Hubby decided we’d go to Bass Pro on Wednesday…oh joy. Thursday was Market in the Park and Friday we undecorated the church, went to Chick-Fil-A with friends and Andrew enjoyed an after VBS swim party for all the teens that volunteered in games. Turns out that free days were easy to fill…as always.

Last week rolled right into Kaitlyn’s environmental camp at the Environmental Studies Center. I had scheduled her for the afternoon class so we would not have to get up and moving for the 8:00 one. But…Andrew decided to volunteer at the church Basketball Camp and he of course needed to be there by 8ish!

Kaitlyn had a GREAT week. It seems that she is finally growing out of her separation issues as she gave me a hug and kiss and moved on freely…that is HUGE and my mommy heart was thrilled! She also made some new friends who thought she was great, and considering what she has been through with the family next door, that was a blessing. She and her daddy went on her field trip together to the Dauphin Island Estuarium and to lunch afterwards…we marked it as a daddy/daughter day out, something we try to do with the kids individually as time permits.

Both the environmental and basketball camps ended on Thursday so Friday was free and ready for family fun! We took the boat out on Dog River and went tubing for the first time…the kids had a blast! Vic had gotten a Knee Board for fathers day and despite his age (hee, hee), handled it quite well…I was pretty impressed! I think I got pretty good at driving the boat…driving enough to where I actually enjoyed it. We came home completely pooped out and ready to relax…this of course after taking care of boat business. The bad thing about boat ownership is everything you have to do for maintenance after the fun…rinsing all the stuff, drying out, etc…blah! I think the memories are worth it though!

Friday night was Family Move Night…"Horton Hears a Who" and Papa John’s Pizza!

Yesterday and today…rest and relax…for tomorrow we start all over again with life’s busyness!
