Saturday...

Guess what we did all day today?!?  I KNOW!  You're as sick of hearing about it as I am of talking about it!  SCHOOL!

My BFF Laura posted an interesting link today on FB.  It was a blog of an unschooling dad...and exactly what I needed for the "Season of Life" that I've recently encountered.  I have been soooo stressed out these last two weeks...my shoulders have been in knots...I've been so short tempered and not a fun momma at all.  I'm posting my last FB reply here so I'll have it to remember...
"...and I think that is the problem...I've unintentionally reverted back to schooling at home...it has been slowly creeping back in and I wasn't really aware until recently how draining and stressful it is. I haven't schooled at home for years, not really...bits and pieces yes, but nothing hard core! Schooling at home has shut down spontaneous living...schooling at home has sucked the fun out of life. I am now aware of the death grip that it "HAD" on me...but I'm sending it packing! BE GONE!"
I'm slowly regaining control of "MY" homeschool as I come out of the Governmental brain washing fog that took over my life...next week is a new beginning and hopefully those bags of burden will  be packed with all those schoolish intentions to never be opened again!

  1. Bravo! I have to contantly feed myself encouragement from unschooling literature/blogs or else I find myself starting to question my thoughts and beliefs on "education". What we do works for us so I figure "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

  2. Good for you!!! Take your life back, girl! You know what's best for your family...don't second guess! I think we all have second thoughts about how to 'properly' homeschool our children...are we doing the right thing? Wouldn't they benefit from this or that?

We all 'do school' differently, and we do what's best for our family. Some are more structured and some are less. It's all good.

I also think there's a benefit to knowing what absolutely does NOT work for you. Tried it, did it, not gonna do it again!

Chuck all that homework out the window (into a recycling bin, of course) and do something fun!
