Back to school blues...

We started "back to school" today...there were some challenges. My oldest lost his electronic entertainment due to some motivational struggles. Honestly, I'd rather be just living and enjoying life...as would the kids. But...hubby and I agree that "some" things must be accomplished in order for "us" to feel we are doing right by the kids.

I struggle constantly between pushing academics for the sake of pushing and living for the love of living. When you've grown up in school it's often hard to break the mold. The government sure has messed us up as a society with its "standards" of education. Blah...

I'm currently reading "The Teenage Liberation Handbook: How to Quit School and Get a Real Life and Education" by: Grace Lleyellyn and most recently finished "Learning All the Time" by John Holt. If you read these books it will definitely shed a new light on life and learning...my desire for my children are to be the free spirits they are meant to be...to relax and let live, I have always been a rebel, why would I ever think I, "we" could conform to such boring educational hoopla...

Needless to say, December was a wonderful break of school free living...no thought, no schedule, no boring academics...just embracing each day as it was presented, living...loving and laughing...oh and eating some really awesome food!
