Since brother left for Puppet Competition and Hubby for Drill, I decided that little sis and I would enjoy some special moments together. It's often hard to spend one on one time with each child, and I think it's even more challenging with homeschooling. We have in the past reserved a "date" day for each child with each parent...but somewhere down the line due to time restraints we lose sight of those intentions.
So...we went to Target and I let her pick out a movie. We bought "Space Buddies" and a Pepperoni DiGiorno Pizza to enjoy for our movie & pizza night.
I had already decided that the next day we'd get out and do what she loves best...going to the dog pound...lol. Bet you thought I'd say shop or something girlie like that! My girl is a dog lover...her ambitions change weekly, but always revolve around some sort of critter care. So, we went to the shelter and checked out all the puppies, dog & kitties. Next I planned a special visit to ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation)...this is in a shady part of town and is housed in a very old house. The volunteers were very nice however, and there were LOTS of puppies, dogs & cats in which to see and play with. This happens to be the place that we will more than likely volunteer at as our community service. We then went to Pet Smart to the SPCA Adoption day...and then finished our rounds by visiting the SPCA. We saw lots of critters...luckily we came away empty handed.
We ended our special day with a yummy Chinese buffet at China Doll! We are now letting our food settle and then we'll head out for a walk...and probably play a game.
She said this was the best day of her life...and I'm the best mom ever. I'm glad she's happy, because I'm sure I'll tick her off at some point today and it will be the worse day of her life and I'll surely not be the best mom!
