Family, Day 2...

Today started out with a little trip to Sam's club...it seems that our guest, who chose to stay in their camper had a sleeping issue with the mattress. Being the proud owner of a camper myself, I can totally relate with the comfort level of a less that optimal camper mattress. We suggested they purchase a memory foam mattress pad to help achieve at least a tolerable level of comfort.

After Sam's I was reminded that it was lunch time and I had obviously not fed my guest. I don't eat breakfast, ever...and honestly my crew normally fends...cereal, bagel, granola bar...you know, the simple stuff! Vic mentioned to me that eggs, bacon & biscuits had been previously mentioned by his brother...so obviously I failed good hosting 101 by not providing a hearty morning meal! I'll NOT forget this for the next time! We decided to eat at Cracker Barrel to enjoy what I didn't provide. The food was delicious, plenty, reasonable and well...I didn't have to clean the kitchen!

After a hearty "brunch", we took the family downtown to view the city sights, tunnel, Bayway and eventually to Gulf Shores...none of which they had seen before. After a very long and tiring day we returned home ready to relax...that is until I realized it was dinner time. Vic and I love "The Boiling Pot"...they have THE BEST po-boys completely overstuffed with your choice of fried shrimp, fried crawfish and I think fish. We rolled ourselves out of the restaurant and into the car...each of us full, tired and ready to call it a day!

I dunno...I love visiting, but I realized today that my forte is definitely not being a tour guide, chef or entertainer to out-of-town guest. We live such a simple, quite, seemingly boring lifestyle compared to that of my hubby's family.

Tomorrow our guest will depart our beautiful city. As for us...we'll probably head to the firework store to supply our 4th of July needs and then a date day for hubby and me, oh and the return of our norm...

...simple, quite and seemingly boring, that's OUR life and we love it!

  1. you'll have to send your "guests" to Austin. I love being a tour guide....I can't guarantee any home cooked meals though. :-)
